Good Tree Hunting

You probably go to a store or a parking lot to buy a tame one, but every December we Zelnicks drive up into the mountains to cut down a wild Christmas tree. After all, here in Colorado, pine trees grow thicker than Mr. Mot’s ear hair.

We always take Goosy’s pick-up truck on tree day, so the tree has a bed to lie in on the way home. As we drive, we listen to an old recording of The Grinch—the one with the goofy* songs mixed in with the story. That’s part of our tradition too, just like the thermos of hot chocolate and the sack of just-baked cookies for the celebration after we’ve cut the tree. Even though it involves some hiking, it’s pretty much a great day. Usually.
